Day 187 – Today I am grateful that we are put on earth for a purpose

What is your mission

I was listening to this speech by The Secret speaker Lisa Nichols (who also runs a camp to prevent teen suicide in LA), and she said something amazing.

She said:

  • You are given a gift to do something on earth, and when you feel a lack of motivation to do your passion, remember you need to do it, because people are waiting for it. It is to help others.
  • If you feel like you are walking alone in doing something pretty big that can change the world, and you feel strange, it’s probably because you were the only one that was given that gift.
  • If your dream takes a lot of work, remember you are planting seeds. Those hard-ass-late-night years will eventually grow into something huge. Sometimes you need to be patient. Goals without action are just dreams.

Day 186 – Today I am grateful for ALWAYS having problems

I'm Free

I was listening to a podcast about how we think that once we achieve something, we will be free of all problems and exonerated. For example once we gain that new job, meet the perfect partner, move house, get a flat stomach, listen to that perfect self-help tape, we will be free and will never have to worry about anything again.

Have you ever felt like that?

But try this, imagine accepting that you will always have problems (challenges) in life no matter what. Although that sounds depressing at first, think about how freeing that actually is. Once you accept it, you won’t feel overwhelmed when something goes wrong, or upset that you haven’t reached a state of meditative bliss where nothing can affect you. Because that isn’t possible if you are human.

They did studies with patients who I think were suffering from depression, and found that once these patients accepted that there will always be challenges in life, they felt a huge sense of relief because they were no longer striving to gain something that is impossible.

I feel like we are constantly being bombarded with messages that we will reach exoneration when we fall in love (think Twilight), or when we buy a product (think car commercials with 2.1 children in the back), or when we learn new info. (think about every self-help guide out there). But I think when you are well and truly permanently free from worries, you are most likely dead, or a living buddah.

I now feel challenges will always be a part of life, and they will change with every new step I take, but the quality of challenges will change. Eg. Existing challenge: I don’t have enough money to go on a vacation. New challenge: My rap entourage is so big right now that I don’t have enough room on my island for all my friends. BAM a quality challenge.

Dunno if I am crazy here but ever since I figured this out, shit dun changed son. I feel horrendously calm and internally happy and not scared of the future. Well that’s until I meet my next challenge…. :p

 

 

Day 182 – Finding out How to Punch Fear in the Face

Sabre Tooth TIGER

Apparently everyone is scared shitless of everything. We call this fear. But it’s just the way people react to it that makes us different.

For example in prehistoric times if you were being chased by a hairy sabre tooth lion and reacted to fear in a positive way, you would most likely sprint away from the lion, or hit it with some sorta foul smelling dinosaur tooth.

I on the other hand, would stand still, offer the lion a rustic salt and pepper shaker (I hand made), and a George Foreman Grill,  (so that it doesn’t put on too much weight when it eats me as I have put on a few extra Summer pounds).

I was listening to this awesome podcast by Tim Ferriss author of the 4 hour body. And he was talking about how he is afraid of everything, but you can either run from fear, or take action. For example, he couldn’t cook. So he took action to learn how to cook in the most efficient way by modeling the top experts in the field. He also said that he was the worst basketball player ever, and his coach at school would make fun of him. He then realized that everyone learns differently, and he always had to find the right approach for him to learn things.

I realize it’s the things you are the most afraid of in life, that you are meant to work on. Those things you are putting off because you are scared…shitless.

That’s why i’m now trying to do the things that scare me the most first, because the other shit can wait till later. And that way I am not dreading the lion. Instead I am going to his house, getting him drunk, and taking him to a bar.

And the shit I am scared of is really weird such as: writing in my new website, cooking etc.

Fuck you lion. Shit dun changed. (I am sure I will bump into you again though. Probably tomorrow…)

Day 181 – I am grateful for time-saving methods

I have a problem: no matter what time I wake up for work, I seem to get there at the same time everyday.

  • I woke up at 6am. I got to work at 9:30am.
  • I woke up at 8:00am. I got to work at 9:30am.
  • I woke up at 7:45am. Nearly left for work early. Spilled and broke a glass over my entire outfit and new blue shoes. Got to work angry at 9:50am.

My friend Davinder, the indian Tim Ferriss, suggested some time saving methods for me. He said to make food for the entire week.

I am one upping him on this and have thought of a variety of other time saving methods for my new book: Time Management with Aisha.

Here is a snippet:

  • Wear all the clothes you plan to wear that week. Take off one layer a day. This works especially well for socks.
  • Don’t go home. Sleep at work. You will save two hours a day.
  • Don’t shower. You will save 1hr a day.
  • Tell you dog he is a man now, give him a wad of cash, and send him to the grocery store to make his own dam food.
  • Ask your dog to pee off the balcony so you don’t have to take him outside. This is also a good way to meet your neighbours and a possible love interest killing three birds with one stone. Save 10 billion hours a week.

According to my calculations with these new tips you will be saving 10 hours a day.

Day 179 – I am grateful for Nick Ortner’s Book – The Tapping Solution

The Tapping Solution

This shit cray.

It’s like learning to do acupuncture without the needles in two minutes. Unbelievable and super weird, but apparently tapping meridian points:

  • Makes changes to your amygdala (which processes emotions in your brain)
  • Which stops your brain going into the flight or fight response when you are thinking about something negative that you have chosen to “tap on”
  • You then process that event/situation differently and more neutrally every time you think about it allowing you to come up with better solutions, or perceptions about them.

Anyone out there tried this?

 

Day 178 – Today I am grateful for p to the rawns – prawns

I don’t like prawns. But I bought a cook book that told me to cook them. And so I did.

Awesome lettuce, prawn, and dill wraps with a mayonnaise and lime sauce.

Prawns are the easiest thing to cook in the world. Thanks again to Jorge Cruise for the easiest cook book I have ever read in my life. I still don’t like prawns, but these look too damn good to not eat.
